The Song Pages

Each greek song has a page of its own. The song pages all have a standard format, like the one shown below.

As you can see, the page contains the title, composer, lyricist and lyrics of the song. Most importantly, it gives you two ways to play the song, in its MIDI form: The one on the left plays the song internally in the browser. The one on the right plays the song externally.

If you want to download and save the MIDI music for a song in your computer so you can play it off line later, click on the external play link using the right button of the mouse. A drop-down list of options will appear, in which you can select the "save target as ..." or "save link as ..." option. This will enable you to download and save the MIDI file in your local hard disk in whatever directory you choose. Then, you can play the song off-line using the media player available on your computer.

Either way, the quality of the music you will hear during playbak depends solely on (a) the quality of the soundcard in your computer, and (b) on the quality of the speakers attached to your computer.

Finding the Song Pages

  • I have a page that lists all greek songs in the site in reverse order of arrival.
  • I have a page that lists all greek songs in the site alphabetically by title.
  • I also list the Greek songs by composer. Each composer for whom I have a reasonable number of songs has a separate page, where his songs are listed alphabetically by title. The songs by composers with no dedicated page are listed under a page titled Other Composers. Whenever I get enough songs by a composer, I dedicate a page to him, and transfer the entries for his songs from the Other Composer page there.
  • There is one page that lists a few melodies from operas, transcribed for solo piano.

As more songs are added to the site, I'll no doubt find additional ways to list them to make them more conveniently accessible. In the meantime, please feel free to suggest ways to make the site easier to navigate.
